Helen they are just precious :D Your all Black one reminded me of my Georgie. Gerogie was a stay wild kitty that my mother finally got to come in to eat, & after I lost my Garff she gave me Gerogie, it took a while, but he started to sleep with me at night , just kept getting a little closer every day. He would case deer, but when it came to my ferrets :!: he'd run the other way

Your kitties are so cute, Helen, and I loved seeing all the pictures!

When all our cats moved on to the Bridge, we thought we should be sensible and not replace them but I must say I miss not having a cat around, especially cuddling me at night :) It's the first time in my life that I don't have a cat in the family!

The black guy Cookie is very different from Georgie hahaha! I often refer to him as "the stalker" has been since day
one.... can't do anything without him being there and sometimes that can be annoying haha!
He is a old man now but still stalking LOL! He came from a farm, was infested with worms and almost died
when he was 6 weeks old.

Billy is more like your Georgie though, I suspect he and his brothers and sisters were found on the streets
and raised by humans to tame him. He eats whatever you give him and as small as he was he would target
birds and the smaller ferrets here. He is the only cat who doesn't have a sad history and it shows.

Tiger came to us last summer and is afraid of a lot of things, he spend 3 weeks with his dead slave lady.. when
she was finally found you know people come in and they are not careful with the animals living there.
There were other cats in that house with him. Doorbell, shoes and whatever scares him under the bed.
Doesn't like to be picked up but loves it when you stroke him everywhere.. has lots to tell you too :)

Lotje came to us as a 9 to 10 weeks old kitten and was very sick. Sitting there at a pet store covered in fleas
and when the cage was opened so was I cos she jumped on me and wouldn't let go. Moaning and crying...
So we took her home, cleaned her up and fed her. Took her to the vet the same day as she had a sore tongue,
sore eyes and ears and stuff like that :(

She was cat number 9 to move in with us :)

Now she is a quiet old lady, missing one or two toes that were amputated last year as they found some sort
of cancer in there. A cancer that most cats with lots of white seem to get a lot.

We've lost a lot of our furry buddies over the years but always go find another soul to help out and give
a home in the shelters. We were down to two cats last year after James died and went to the shelter to
find the worst cat we could find and we did. Mickey was his name and stayed with us for only 4 days because
the shelter in Rotterdam forgot to check his bowels for the cancer that was raging in there :(
Very soon we discovered this shelter was bad, they told us he was fine even though our vet checked him out
and discovered why he could not eat. We reported them to animal protection for being a bad shelter that
sold sick animals to people. Making sure you would only use THEIR vets so the problems wouldn't come out.
Raw chicken was all he could eat so they blames us for making him sick! You bet there was a riot after that!

Almost 2 weeks after this story they were in the news for having to put older cats and kittens to sleep for
some illness that went through that shelter.. typical! They placed Mickey between other cats and all cats
were lose in 3 rooms so no quarantine and I immediately had our cats checked for any decease Mickey may
have brought here... dammit! We went to our local shelter with this story and they confirmed all of it.
Seeing all those cats walking around together in that place should have rung the alarm in us and we were
not allowed to bring home a few of the other because they could not be with other cats?
Very strange....

Anyway, in our local shelter the cats are all in their own 'cage' are allowed to walk around one at a time and
after one cat has been out the floor is cleaned against possible infections.

We did not get Tiger until he was checked by the vet the next day. The other shelter would let you leave
with pets unchecked and all but hey they probably don't check them before they come in either.

In this country there used to be a ferret shelter that was infected with ADV and she still gave people ferrets
to people resulting into people losing entire groups. One person had 8 ferrets and all of them died from ADV.
She just said they were tested and given a clean bill of health but she was in it for the money.... stupid woman!

I just can't believe that in these modern times there are still people running stores with animals they know nothing
about. The store Nappie came from (at 5 weeks old) the owner was afraid of ferrets! Why start a shop with "products"
as they call them you are afraid of?
They also had no clue of what to do and if I could place her with Xena and Heather. We took a gamble and it went
well but just the same they could have all died from heliobacter because of the stress.

It just pisses me off how animals are still treated like crap, as if they are things... at the same time it makes
me so sad :(

But when a shelter does these stupid things like not testing for ADV and sell untested ferrets (goes for shops as well)
to people or do not treat their cats and dogs right and have a bad attitude as well... that is when I go mad.
These are people claiming to be taking animals in that need help and at the same time they let a cat sit in their
shelter with tumor in his belly in pain and unable to eat.

Stay sharp JC and keep reporting these bad stores and shelters, only that way we can get rid of these idiots that
should not have pet stores and shelters!
