Pop lives in my boyfriends, and they have rats in the garden D:
both his mum and brother want to get her in the garden to go for the rats, but there's loads of holes and places that pop could escape from, and they dont seem to understand (mostly his brother) that if she gets out and shuffles off, she's unlikely to come back, so worried they're gonna take her out without saying anything to me and paul D:

do you think it would be ok to take her out if we were careful?
+ what things would we need if we did?

..thanks :)

Don't even think about it, tell them to get the rats removed by a qualified exterminator.

tbh im more worried about if his brother decides to take her outside.. it's not like its me that wants to do it lol
no matter how much i try to tell him, he still gives her food that's bad for her, smacks her and lets her out into the hallway and doesnt watch her! pop doesnt go near the banister, but because they're not covered i still worry she'll fall through xD but paul and i take her round the house supervised or in the garden with a harness, and david refuses to do any of that :(
he just wont listen!!! ( and he's 23 :| )
although.. i reckon she's one of the best behaved ferrets in the world ^^

sounds like he just wants to hunt with her
i've used mine for ratting before but it can be hard as the holes are small and narrow and the ferret can get stuck you should be ok if the holes are only in your garden but if just 1 goes out the garden she will find it and be gone mine are fine as they are working ferrets and know what to do but yours will come unstuck against a rat if its never hunted before and trust me i've seen a ferret thats come off the worst and the rat lived the ferret was in a real bad way for 3 months i stopped ratting after seeing that and counted my blessings best thing is to just keep her on a lead but i can see you'll have prob's as like i said he wants to hunt her cant you lock the cage

I agree with Tracy. It sounds like this brother of his is a real threat to the ferret. Maybe you should get a lock for your ferret cage. I know I would not tolerate such treatment of my ferrets for one minute. Absolutely not. How old is this brother anyway? It sounds like he's way to immature to respect either the ferret or your wishes. Bad news. Draw the line.

I have to agree with Tracy & Gary, POP's well being should come first :!: If you care for this sweet angle :?: then by all means you should put your foot down. If pop has never been trained to hunt as Keith has pointed out.then pop's a pet :) . & it will be Pop's that pays for your boyfriends brothers stupidity. :x

i said to his mum today not to let him take her out so she'll tell him :)

i've tried telling him loads that when he'd with her he's doing everything wrong but he wont listen :(
he picks her up by the lead when she's in the harness, smacks her and feeds her the wrong food :(
i'm not there all the time so i can only do so much, but i do know that paul hardly ever lets him near her, unless it to take her to see the dog downstairs..
david's 23 xD

lol the dogs always hated anything smaller than her and usually tries to eat it!! but she treats Pop like her baby!! doesnt even mind if Pop bites her lip or eye D:
maybe its cuz she's never had a litter..
:)

Just curious - how old is this brother who abuses pop?

Now, on occasion, hauling a ferret up with a harness IS acceptable, but only in a serious situation. If not jerked real fast and hard, it does them no harm. Way back when I had Bart and Victoria, I had one outside on the harness and some of my neighborhood feline friends were stalking a little too close so I just hauled her up to safety (and told the cats, "Don't even think about it..."). BTW, don't do this with a collar only.

Often I get the request of bringing my ferrets to work to hunt for the mice but he seems to forget that
the rats and mice are full with poison!
There is mouse poison all over the place and if the ferrets would bite or eat one of them they will die.
In most cases collecting the poop and placing it around the house is enough to scare rats and other rodents
away. The smell triggers the instinct to better not go there but I certainly would not let anyone take my
ferrets to hunt rats, mice or anything house without proper knowledge.

Today's rat and mice are filled with poison so don't let him do that!

maybe you should move with your boyfriend and little Pop to your own apartment..I would never like to live with such a people as is your boyfriend brother..
it looks you never can be sure what he will do..if he's 23 and can't understand that Pop is not his own mechanic toy and he abuses her,you must save her from him!
maybe living in their house is more comfortable for you but I would rather chose a heavier life and save a little being who can't save itself from the abuser!
you may say it's easy to speak like that, but believe me,I know what I speak about,I was living with an abuser..
